To install the new package, follow these simple steps:

1. Select the Scripts Folder: Go to your PixInsight distribution's scripts folder.

2. Add Feature Scripts: Click on the 'Add' button in the Feature Scripts dialog box.

If you're currently using an older version of Pacifist (1.8.8-6), don't worry - you'll need to install it manually for it to appear on the Script menu.

This latest release includes several notable improvements and bug fixes. One of the key enhancements is the re-inclusion of NBRGBCombination, which allows us to distribute big files as updates through our Content Delivery Network (CDN). This will greatly improve downloading performance and free up our corporate server to handle other critical tasks.

Another significant improvement is the ability for update repositories to specify a specific server URL for each update package. This prevented redrawing the target image during the potentially long process, which caused ugly screen artifacts.

Additionally, several bugs have been fixed in this release. The StarNet module was previously locking the target image for reading operations during generation of the starless image, but this issue has now been resolved. Similarly, negative pixel values in star masks generated by the StarNet module have been addressed, and an implementation mistake that caused application lock-ups has been corrected.

Finally, the median calculation algorithm used in the StarNet module was incorrectly implemented on macOS and Windows systems, resulting in incorrect calculations of median pixel values for images in 32-bit unsigned integer format. This issue has now been resolved.

As always, to install the new package, you'll need to uninstall the previous version first. The new packages are labeled '20200824' and provide a range of enhancements and bug fixes.

But, to my surprise, I quickly adapted to the change and it didn't impact my shooting experience too much. Of course, everyone's different, and some people may find it more challenging to adjust.

One thing to consider when installing a muzzle silencer is finding a reputable gunsmith who can do the job correctly. With so many different 'standard' threads available in the UK, it's essential to get the threading done right to ensure proper fitment of the moderator. I would recommend paying a little extra for a good reputation and quality work.

The benefits of a muzzle silencer are undeniable. Not only does it reduce noise levels, but it also reduces recoil. In fact, my Blaser rifle with a moderator produces around 140dB(C), which is still quite loud, but significantly less than the unmoderated version. When hunting, I would take the occasional shot without ear protection, knowing that the moderated sound level will be much kinder to my neighbors and my own hearing.

Overall, my experience with a muzzle silencer has been overwhelmingly positive. The 30dB reduction in sound pressure level is well worth having, especially considering the potential damage an unmoderated rifle can cause. Once you've tried shooting with a moderator, it's hard to go back to an unmoderated rifle.
